Title: New Stealth Floats!
Post by: Stealth on September 15, 2006, 07:53:06 PM
Hello from Stealth Fishing Technologies

We are very proud to introduce our first product, the Stealth float!
Please check out our web site at www.stealthfishing.com to find a dealer near you.

A few years ago I had an idea to produce a high quality, high performance Clear European style float that did not require the use of those pesky bobber stops at an affordable price. Finally the Stealth float is a reality.  Retail price is $3.99

The Stealth float is slightly more buoyant than a Drennan #3 so this is a perfect size for most all of your Salmon and Steelhead float fishing needs.

With every Stealth float a 4-inch section of surgical tubing is included to be used as float collars. We recommend that you cut the tubing into 4 one-inch sections.
The one inch surgical tubing collars will hold the Stealth float firmly in place and allow it to cast Tangle free, retrieve smoothly and of course make super sensitive drifts while tracking perfectly down every run!

Have a look at our dealer page to find a tackle store that is currently carrying our floats
www.stealthfishing.com/dealers/

We are  very pleased to be working with FWR and look forward to the future.

Also please check out our gallery page. www.stealthfishing.com/gallery/
We will give you 3 free floats for any picture of a Salmon or Steelhead that was caught with a Stealth float that we use on the site.

Have a great season and remember, Fish with Stealth!

Are there any plans to expand the availability to Vancouver area stores ?

We are looking to expand our dealer base as much as possible and we are currently waiting for Army and Navy to set up our account.
Any new interested dealers will be supplied right away! Steveston Marine in Vancouver currently does not stock them but can have them transfered in from their other stores buy request and Highwater Tackle has them in stock.

Dont forget the stores in Maple Ridge ;)

Why? Are you going to use one for sturgeon? ;D

I'm just playing around with one right now in front of the screen. :) I like the thickness of the plastic, it seems to be more durable than the Drennans. ;D No more rock smashing disasters. ;D The attachment method is also great. No need to spend the extra dollars on float stoppers now. ;) I would love to see them come in different sizes eventually. :) Possibly different shapes as well. :) It is going to be exciting testing these in the next two months! Post your photos of fish caught on Stealth Float in this thread please. :D

By the way, Chris' journals from now on will be quite 'stealthy', no more lucky drennan.  ;D ;D ;D

Just my .02, but fishing with clear plastic floats is a waste of money if the water isn't low and clear.  Foam floats can be made just as sensitive if you weight them properly and can be picked up for free all over the river.

i wanted to pick one up at RFT, but found them to be a little bit on the large side. don't they come in smaller sizes?

I like the dink floats too.. there is just something nice about the way that the plastic floats travel down river, a little smoother and more sensitive to the bite, I also hate the way that the foam floats fall apart and how the plastic tubing almost always pulls out of the foam part  :(

Checked them out at dart and tackle friday not a big fan of the rubber , It would be nice if they could make Drennan's that thick though .

Get a room you 2!!  Anyhow, back to the topic at hand.  Upon recieveing a couple of these Stealth floats, they look very promising for Clear water applictaions, and I saw the freak bounce one off a rock and it didn't break!!  I would be interested in different sizes as well, but I will give them a test run tomorrow, now that I lost my DNE float!! ::) :'(  Chris if you find the one that I posted up here the other day........ ;D ;D

Wow!  Over 330 views and the web site traffic is going crazy!  A big thanks to every one for there enthusiasm for the new Stealth Float.

This project took over a year to make a reality so to see this reaction is very rewarding, thank you again.

Now just to answer a couple of questions.
The Stealth float will hold slightly more weight than a Drennan # 3
The overall length is longer but this is because of the ends required to allow for the collars to attach the float to the line.
The surgical tubing may be a new concept but it works very well and the neutral color blends in to the surroundings  perfectly. We went with this tubing because it was inexpensive and readily available. Make sure to use 1-inch sections for best results!
We also made it a priority to make this float as durable as possible and the one piece design really makes a difference.
As far as more sizes are concerned this is planned for the future probably some time in 07
Right now we are just getting the ball rolling so we came out with a size that would be best for most situations.

We are very pleased with the new Stealth float and are confident that you will also find them to be a premium float at a reasonable price

You can send me yours because you only need to use a wine cork when fishing the Pike Minnows. ;D

Wine cork?? How uncivilized and brutal on the delicate minnows. :o We use corkies. ;) The corkie is attached to the main line like a float, unlike some who choose to utilize them in an "unethical manner" by allowing it to slip all the way down to the hook. ;D ;D ;D

After two blanked trips, can we come film you on Monday when the Stealth float drowns? ;D

Quite true!
People love to find new and better products but the fact is that a regular foam float-such as the one made by Ken MacInroy from Mission-are just as good and a good deal cheaper than any imported item.
Plus by buying something made locally I'm keeping more of my money here in the country I live in instead of sending it offshore-something we all do too much of already.

Any chance for these new floats to be available in a 'straight thru' sliding float?

After fishing straight thru drennans I don't think I could go back to a fixed float at all.

And for those people advocating that there is 'no reason to go clear plastic', well there is no real reason to use Ultragreen or Islanders either, heck, some old washers and nuts will work just fine for weights, and forget this fancy graphite rod stuff, a nice willow branch will work as well. (just saying.. it's nice to fish with nice equipment  ;) )

They should be easy to adjust the lenght as the line will slide easily through the rubber tubing.
Just thawing out some roe to make some roe bags and will give them a dry run later this afternoon before I get serious tomorrow. ;D

I suspect that's why it's priced lower than the Drennan because it's extremely difficult/pricey to make that a straight thru slider. Nice float, but I have no trouble catching coho and steelhead with McInroy's thru floats.

That place is near where I live but last I was there they had very little river gear just some Gibbs floats/weights/rubber tubing.
Phone 604-733-7031 and ask for Alfred-he's your man.
Or you could phone Steve Kay since according to another forum he's the one importing them.

Well, bought one this morning at reaction before heading out.  I really like them.  Stronger than a drennan at half the price.  Did require a bit more lead to get it floating properly but drifted really well.  I liked the sensitivity of the float and I was able to hook and land quite a few small coho on it.  I did snag up a few times and got the float back with no problems (I would be holding my breath with my drennans).  Overall, I like the stealths enough to replace my drennans.

FYI

It has come to my attention that a couple of dealers that are listed on our dealer page have been a little slow in putting their Stealth inventory on the shelves.  All dealers on the Stealth dealer page (http://www.stealthfishing.com/dealers/) have received inventory so if you don’t see them on the shelves please don’t hesitate to ask.

Also Steveston Marine in Vancouver will also now be stocking stealth floats.
