Title: Snow Trout..nov. 29th
Post by: Xgolfman on November 29, 2006, 12:43:10 PM
As I was standing outside with a buddy and looking at my back yard, I noticed something unusual for this time of year....Risers....Wow...Could it be? Are the snow trout really here this early?...

I quickly rigged up my favorite presentation for these fine fish...A trout bead and an Indicator...I like using an indicator as it keeps my presentation up higher and I can see the take a little better, some guys like to using split shot but as I was only fishing 2 feet of snow I decided against it...
   My set up!!

I think it's very important to wear the right gear when fishing these tricky devils...I wear scott polarized glasses (amber) as it helps me see below the snow line...a good hat to keep the snow off the back of your neck is very important too as you don't want to get cancer back there later in life....and of course a BRIGHT hunting jacket for safety reasons.....

Here's how my presentation looks floating down a riffle of snow!!

Before long I could see the tell tale signs of the infamous snow trout checking out my egg....I slowly wound the line around my fingers to slow the egg's process down....yet making sure I didn't spook it...these fish are very wary....and then it happened....FISH ON....Wow. what a fisht...

After many runs and jumps...I was very lucky to not lose him...A great day to be out in the yard fishing...go get um guys...the winter run is here....

That trout bead is too far away from the hook, the fish was obviously flossed. ;D

Damnit I just saw that...ummmm it was the bag I bring to pick up garbage at my favorite spot...I do have to learn to crop the background out..but seeing as most of you don't have Wash. licenses I hope I'm safe..

You should try using an auger, make a good dozen holes in the backyard and set your lines.  Good luck!

Was that a Ho,  nooo it must be a jack spring.  ::)  Wait a minute there must be a spot somewhere that is between 1.1 to 1.2 times the square root of the distance between rays on the caudal fin, ;)  On second thought it must be a ho-ing, that has been digitally altered through photoshop to make it look like a jack steelhead, or maybe a resident trout.  I know for sure it is not a sturgeon, even though they can live out of the water for a long time.  ;D ;D

Nice fish, hope it tasted good on the Bar-b-que

We got them all on egg beads or egg flies under indicators except for one which fell for a flesh fly on the swing. However, these ones don't have rigormortis like yours Xgolfman  ???

Pretty small for a snow run trout!!!   You sure that you aren't making the whole thing up?   :o ;)  Do u use maxima or triline?
