Need: 5 ft shipping tube for rod
« on: August 01, 2014, 01:51:27 PM »

Trying to mail/ship a rod for repairs, but I can't find a tube long enough. Needs to be 5 ft.

Have tried Canada Post outlet, Staples, Purolator, Fed Ex. None are long enough.

Any suggestions?

Try a carpet place or simply use some inexpensive plumbing pipe of suitable size from Canadian tire or Home Depot.

I have used cheap plastic pipe before - try an irrigation place or an outlet store like Home Depot.

Edit .... Rieber beat me to it :D

Perfect. I've got some leftover PVC from a central vac project. Great idea, guys. Thx.

Perfect - just pack in some foam or plastic bags or something on either end to keep the pieces tight in there and duct tape the ends. Must be grey duct tape - not the counterfeit duck tape.

If done this a few times with never an issue.

When Shimano Mails us their rods, they usually come in these cylindrical thick cardbox tube. Maybe the tackle stores have lots for disposal once they receive their rods, worth asking...

West Coast Tackle has them.
