I forget, how long ago did that train derail near Squamish Cheakamus...
And anyone think there will be an opening for chum this year in that river system.

Summer of 2005 I think. Sodium hydroxide. Nasty.

Here's a great article about the Cheak. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/five-years-after-disastrous-bc-spill-the-cheakamus-river-teems-with-life/article1680797/ (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/five-years-after-disastrous-bc-spill-the-cheakamus-river-teems-with-life/article1680797/)

I remember that day. I went with friends to stay at these cabins that are right on the river (the day after). Big dead salmon floating everywhere.
I didn't fish for a few years since that and was surprised to learn that it is still suffering the negative effects of it.
On a side note, the cabins were and are a great place to stay. Cheap and right on the river. Can't think of the name.. Sun God? That's not it, but close I bet.

The spill was in 2005; however, I remember the chum 2006 run to be quite good - lots of fish and they are aggresive fly biters! Now - if chum are a 4 year fish, then maybe this year will be excellent? ;) I also recall that in 2007, the run didn't materialize...

Generally, it's considered good manners (and legally required) to ask a photographer to use their photo before doing so. Particularly when the photographer is a regular of the site on which you are posting the photo. :(

I chose it because it was the best picture I've ever seen. The photographer is clearly excellent. And I found it via google images. How would I know - I just copied and pasted the link.

I'm glad you like the photo, but... If you don't know the source of a photo, it's wise to determine the usage rights before simply copying and pasting links.

Actually it was a research aid and commentary designed to teach people what the squamish looked like.
Case closed!
