Francis Lake Fishable?
« on: February 14, 2005, 04:14:16 PM »

Anyone know when Francis Lake will be fishable (without an auger?)

I suppose Deer and Hicks in Sasquatch will probably be already fishing.

Thoughts?

DS,

Francis and the rest of the Hicks are up there fishing with the Deer and Sasquatch. Ha Ha, aw man, work was too much today, I've snapped. :-\. Time for sleep.

Too early for good fishing.  With the temp returning to the cold side, I'd wait.  Give them a week of overnight temp of above 10 deg. (that's 10 deg. in the valley bottom)

I understand that they'll be slow (cold), but if I can at least GET to them, it woud be kind of like ice fishing without the ice wouldn't it?

I really want to go and feel the tug of a fish on my line, and it doesn't look like I can count on Steelhead for that, at this rate :(

Any day fishing is a good day.  Try the sloughs for cutties and bull trout.  I'm not an expert (I've never fished a slough), but from what I hear, they should be starting to turn on about now.

Checked in at Kent outdoors today.  He said that Deer might be OK, but still too early.  They usually turn this time of year.

Thanks for checking!  Is there significant turnover when a lake doesn't freeze?   The thermocline can't be TOO steep

I think the biggest issue should be the amount of stuff that gets churned up off the bottom.  I have no idea about those lakes.  Keep your blood worms ready.
