I was thinking of going today with all the rivers blown out.  However, it has been solid rain up here (north Van)for the past two days so being a fair weather fisherman I completely wimped out.  All this warm rain may have freed up the ice.  I wonder if there is a number available for the ranger station up there you could call to find out?  There appears to be a video camera or something similar in one of the trees opposite the public dock.  It would be cool if this was available as a web cam.

I dought it was frozen solid and with all this rain and mild temperatures.....
just go find out the freezing level its 1600 metres ATM, rice lake is about  250 m (I believe), Mount Seymour is around 1000 at the parking lot for scale. And no snow expected on Seymour till later in the week.
I do think it would be uncomfortable however, standing in the rain, shuffling back and forth and with the wind chill.
(It doesn't have to be freezing to be uncomfortable in the cold windy rain)
