Title: Chilliwack River, October 14th 2012
Post by: CohoMan on October 14, 2012, 04:07:06 PM
With the higher water, most of the cohos I think shot up river.

I only saw 2 cohos this morning, 1 wild and 1 hatchery by the same guy.

We were not even hooking chums.

Any reports of water conditions now?

What?? How is that possible? I thought rain means good fishing, that's why so many people were dancing a couple of weeks ago. ;D ;D ;D

I had a good laugh the last couple of days with all the predictions of rain and what effect that would do to the local flows. Lots of wishfull thinking for some that think they are a meteorologist. News flash, when the ground is zapped of all moisture, the deluge of rain just runs off like it is pavement! Well for the crew that have to go back to work this week and/or school please keep your mind on task, as for the rest of us see you on the flow and goodluck!  8)

I went  to the hole in the lower end where I got some before and there were lots of guys showing up but, I didn't even see one fish caught. I decide that I might be able to intercept them up higher so up there  go to fish some rapidly coloring top end and nothing there either. I didn't see one fish caught all day but I did manage to find a lime green hootchie and a float on the beach. ;D

Got to the river at early this morning and went to a spot we did well at earlier in the season, by well I mean a coho or two here and there. Different story today however, my buddy and I fished roe and blades through the run for the next two hours with nobody else in sight ;D To make it even better we both limited out :o I now have enough roe to last me awhile and enough fish for the year. I'll try and post a pic of the fish later. Good luck to all who head out in the next few days, river was at a foot of vis by the time we left :P

BLOWN OUT! :(

Good for the fish, not good for the fishing.
(Unless you work hard and pluck them out of the pockets in the upper river.  ;)

Of course some people never learn, it happens every year when people ask for the moisture. ::) Of course as Milo says good for the fish as they move up river with less effort but thosands had made it to the hatchery since the run started even in the low water

It also gets the fish out of the holding areas where the long lining crew had a heyday the last while. ::)

it turns out Mr. Gladsen can add being a courteous driver to his resume as he was nice enough to pull over on a very narrow road today and let me pass, thank you sir. Did you end up getting into any fish at your spot today? I tried it this morning with Chris R. but moved onto a different spot to no avail.

From what I saw he was all over the road honking like a maniac all the way from the river to Mcdonalds.
