Title: Fishing on Texada Island?
Post by: IamCanadian on May 29, 2005, 05:17:38 PM
Hey!

I was wondering if anyone has done fishing on Texada Island. Whether it's in the lake or the ocean. Just surious, cause I'm going there sometime in June, and want to actualy catch a few fish. Not just sit there, without anything biting except the mosquitoes. :P

Thanks. Ian ;D

Have you ever been there?
It's just a big ugly rock with some seriously weird   ::) people living on it.
There used to be decent fishing in the salt there but now it's all changed and most Salmon are off the west coast of the Island.
You'd do better to fish lakes around Powell River or even Pender Harbour.
There's a Bay on the west coast of Texada that's a lovely spot with some real warm water-SFA for fish though.

i used to fish that area around ten years ago for coho and springs. just around the cornewr of blubber bay ferry terminal is Kiddie point (the locals call it coho point) that is really productive for coho around late july august. peolple just jigg the bottom with buzzbombs or you could troll the seaweed bed along hayward island ( i think thats whats its called). its been a while so good luck. I'm off to tofino this week for halibut.

Hey Sam Salmon,

No, I haven't been there, but the day I'm going it'll be extremely low tide for three days, and we're going to dig for some geoducks, clams etc. Then we're going to Powell river for a few days and fish. Not for salmon though. Just off the piers and wish for something good! ;)
