Vedder thursday 3-15
« on: March 15, 2007, 04:50:54 PM »

I think C.G. might be right...unless something major happens, I think we might be seeing the end of steelhead season on the Vedder... I was out today and in a word, it SUCKED... river has changed again in spots, gravel pit by Woody's the flow is back on the inside...Yarrow side campground, you couldn't even get out to some of the spots that were fishable. Some nice spots that I've been fishing are completely blown out now and where there used to be slots are torrents...Water was still super cloudy, maybe 3-4" in spots....Prison run, no island to stand on anymore with water this high and a major waterfall coming down in the middle of the it from the mountains...
I figure I pretty much spent all my day hiking into spots and finding them all unfishable, cement slab was still really high and muddy....water just ripping through there...
I fished a couple spots and the only reason I did was so I could enjoy a cigar...I finally called it quits when I couldn't even hike into a spot on the lower because the river washed out the bank and trail....
Not good guys...If your planning on it being better on the weekend...well, good luck... :'(

If I recall, the only place around to get summer coho is the Cap. It's a river. And that being said, isn't it one of the 2 rivers in B.C, which has a summer run of coho?
