Yes, looks popular with all the RV's and campers staying long term in the parking lot. Looks like a great spot.
You probably should make sure you lock your vehicle there though .

PS - I caught many carp bank fishing in my youth on the sumas. Great fun.  My moms family were original farmers in Sumas when the lake was drained BTW.

yes there is, although the fishing is very moody, one day your friends will be calling you saying they caught 8 fish in a day, next day its dead, super weird.

Don't eat fish from the river, if you catch anything edible. There's some naturally-occurring asbestos that flows in from WA state, along with heavy metals. Some amount of danger of asbestos inhalation from dry mud on the banks, along with the fact that mud from river was spread everywhere on Sumas Prairie in the floods of 2021. I can't imagine the exposure would be enough to harm you as a visitor, but none of the online reading is very reassuring.

Yup, lots of asbestos, I used to work for the city of Abbotsford and I know they used to do removal every 2 years. Been retired now for 9 years so not up to date on that.

My family used to meet up at Hougen Park on weekends for a BBQ  and all the kids would go swimming.
Cow patties were a bit of a nuisance.....   but we kids loved the day..

Also love taking our smokercraft with a 9.9 merc  on mill lake..   those were the days....
Have a great photo of my grandpa on a train cart going across the tressel / train bridge on the west end of mill lake....

there's many course species in there, try worm or corn or dough on a bottom rig or float and set the depth to just above the bottom. Now should actually be really good for carp especially i think next week when we get those first 14-18 degrees days

I thought carp would prefer warmer water maybe around late march?

they do but when the outside temps change rapidly and warm the water up that should get them moving around and hungry.

May I ask where the park is located? I can't seem to find it anywhere on google maps.

My bad lol, I got the two spots mixed up.
Just curious, what bait do you guys typically use? I normally use canned corn, but im just curious to see what others use.
