Title: Pieroway Rods...
Post by: halcyonguitars on January 12, 2016, 02:40:14 PM
Hi Folks,

I was recently grateful to receive a 4 and 8wt set of pieroway rods. My experience level with fly rods in general is such that I don't feel qualified to tell what I think of them. I didn't notice any dramatic casting improvements, but I was also using the same reel and line as before, and still making the same mistakes.

Just wondered if anyone had thoughts on pieroway in general?

Thanks...

buddy of mine had a 4wt and deciced to sell it to buy a different rod. He always talks about how it's the only thing he regrets selling

Did you get the Element series or the Tactical series rods. Everyone loves the Tactical rods but the Element rods seem to be hit or miss depending on who you talk to. Only rods I've cast are the Metal Detector series two handed rods so I can't give you a personal opinion about their single handers

The 4 wt is a m904 series IV.

The 8 wt has no markings and is sort of emerald green.

Sounds like you have older rods, and I would make the conclusion that the 8wt you have was bought as a blank then built if there are no markings.

you should email Geoff Pieroway and ask him for more details on the rods. Sure you can email him through the website
