Title: Singing lines for lakes - suggestions?

Hi guys,

Looking to get a new sinking line for my 6 weight for fishing lakes in the lower mainland and interior. I have a floating line, but would like to get a sinking line for streamers etc.

Any suggestions on sink rate, brands etc?

that will cover most situations.

Depends on what patterns and the time of year you are fishing.

The three previous mentioned all have their place, but I would say I fish the intermediate sink more frequently than the other sinking lines. Type 7 is a must for fishing boobies or deep line chironomid fishing. I don't find myself using my Type 4 that often anymore.

As for brands, I mostly use Rio and have a few SA lines and like almost all of the ones I own.

Depends on the lake you're fishing. If it's a pretty shallow lake, like Tunkwa, then I like to use my clear intermediate sinking line.  This is the line I most often use in the LML lakes as well.  If the lake is quite deep (i.e. >25+ feet) and the fish are down low, I go with my type 3 sinking line.  I also use my type 3 for sinking line chironomid techniques.  I also keep a second rod with a dry line already strung up for dry line chironomiding.  Good luck.  :)

Forgot to mention - I believe my lines are all Scientific Anglers Mastery Series.  No problems with them at all.   ;)

Something with a braided superline core if possible (ie any line that's not clear).  I think that means Airflo Sixth Sense or some newer Rio lines..  Strike detection is AMAZING!

Thanks guys. Ended up getting a Rio Mainstream clear intermediate sink line from Freds in Abby. Nice line at a good price ($39).
