Chilliwack River, September 29th 2013

Redemption!

I drove out this morning even though I thought the river might be blown out and when I arrived it looked nasty.
I thought about leaving but one of the 2 friends that were meeting me today said that he had also arrived.
That forced me to stay since I promised to show him a few tricks.
We threw a few pieces of silverware around the Crossing but had no love.
Then we decided to move to a lower spot as the day saw more light.
Immediately I started hooking into pinks and they were slamming the Colorado like there is no tomorrow. "In the mouth" fellas!
Got one nice chrome pink which I gave to my buddy so his wife would let him get out again. ;D
About an hour into it, I throw one again and as soon as it hits the water, wham bam, got something on.
I started to pull it in and lo and behold it's a coho and it's big.
The fight didn't last that long, it was done quickly and ended up with a nice hatch 10lb buck.
It's not as big as the one I lost yesterday, but I will sleep well tonight.
I had probably 40-50 pinks in 4 hours so I got my exercise too.
All in all it was a good day and it didn't rain a whole lot.

Did you weigh that coho? Or is 10lbs a guess? I have noticed coho look like they weigh a lot more than they actually are. My wifes coho she just caught at 10lbs.  I was very surprised at how little they weigh compared to how big they looked.

Yeah, it was 9 and something gutted.
So I figure it should be just over 10.
It looked much bigger to me on the river :)

It's also the person holding the fish and how it's photographed.
The pros know how to make it look really big ;)

Those 2 are from sunshine coast. Everyone I run into is claiming they have 15 lb coho until I weighed one I guessed was 15 lbs and was very surprised at how little it actually weighed.

Why is it every time you get questioned about the weight of your fish, you remove the picture? I saw the picture yesterday and that Coho was 7lbs tops.
