Sturgeon caught BB
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:20:56 AM »

Anybody else ever seen this?  Lady below me hooked and landed a (probably) 4' sturgeon whilst BB for sockeye.  Have never seen that before.

And that can be just one of the problems with bottom bouncing for sockeye and springs.

Sturgeon move in to those areas where there are alot of people cleaning their fish especially as the season gets extended. They clean up all the left overs and the dead fish of course.

People really have to start learning how to identify fish and have to know the regs before they even cast. Sturgeon and wild steelhead being killed, guys constantly walking away with more than their limits, barbed hooks. I mean, come on.

This is a huge problem, I remember at one of the fishing shows they had posters of different salmon and trout, I stood back for a while and watched as people tried to identify the fish on the posters and was blown away at what people were saying .

Was fishing with my brother-in-law last week at Brownsville Bar, he was bottom bouncing with pencil lead and green wool on his leader, boom , catches a 6' sturgeon, with two leaps showing it's magnificent self to all on shore, my bro-in-law gets it to shore where in seconds later this gorgeous fish breaks off and gone!, you see it on tv but in real life it is totally awesome! :o
