Title: Any Reports from the Vedder on opening day?
Post by: steelieman on July 01, 2007, 07:47:27 PM
I am surprised that no one has made a fishing report today.

Anyone to share their experience today?

Saw no fish.... up top nice water, mid river dirty.  :(

Saw 1 hell of a lucky dude up by the hatchery thou. Apperently he was pissed drunk and plowed off the road ! Luckily some lady who's dog went missing spotted the truck, as you never would of seen it from the road. took over an hour for the cops and ambulance to show up. ounce the ambulance should up the were able to get him to climb out of the truck on his own. Very luck dude, as if he would of went off the road a little further down he would a went right into the creek !!!

I was there this morning before noon. Casted a few times with no luck. The water was very dity and high. I heared of a guy catching one fish in the morning but didn't see it myself. I think it will take another week or so for the water to settle down.

8 of us did some sampling of the smolts for a scientific study from the Limits Hole down to Hoogies.

Of course The Master and partner did the best landing twenty five.

We will be doing more work on this later in the month and we will post some results and thoughts on this when we complete the work.

O, we saw lots of anglers but only heard of one chinook taken in the time we were out, from 8:30 to 11.

I was out from 4-6 yesterday. It was a carnival atmosphere on the river. Lots of moms and dads with their kids fishing and enjoying the beautiful day. Nice water, with visibility about 2+ feet. Not bad. Good new runs below the crossing. Lots of smolts feeding. That's a good sign that the river is healthy. Some ignorami (ignoramuses?) targetting and killing these small fish right at the Lickman parking lot. I had to say something to them. I couldn't just walk past. They complied.
Further down I hit a spring in the tailout  :o, or rather it hit me, and then it was gone. :(
Some new runs, and some of the old runs should make an interesting summer of fishing.
It is a beautiful river, fully revitalized and ready for your summer pleasures.
The river is still running pretty high. It is good for fishing, But, if rafting is your game, be very careful. It is fast and very powerful.
Wear your PFD's.
Enjoy! :) ;D

Went out today scouting, the water was high and fast. Made a couple casts here and there, and called it a day after an hour. Ill wait another week or so for it to drop and clear. A bunch of guys at lickman fishing 3 feet of water, with 5 feet float. Hot day.

Yeah. Iv noticed alot more around these days, even saw one out on June 30th on the Vedder, which was good. So whats the deal with the lack of enforcement, is it because the government does not want to spend more on officers, or before we have a lack of trained people?
