Can anyone give me some direction on recommended line setup for shore fishing rainbow trout at Como Lake or Lafarge?

I have different colour roe/eggs, split shots, floats....

I have seen guys casting but no float and line nice and tight even in the crazy wind today. I figure they are using some sort of weight that sits on bottom and their single egg on hook sits a bit off bottom?

Use an egg sinker

So....egg sinker, hook, egg? How many egg sinkers and how far would you recommend from the hook?

Thread your main line through the sinker, add a small bead and tie on a small swivel. Tie on a 18-24" leader to the other end of the swivel.

Number of egg sinkers. It depends on the weight of each egg sinker, how windy it is, etc. Just put 1~2 on, and then see if it goes far enough, and if it's moving too much. If it does, put 1 more. Do this process until you find that your casting distance is far, and your rig doesnt move around. Also, put some powerbait regardless of what you use for bait becuase it attracts fish, and it also floats your bait so fish can see better. There are other rigs such as rigs with float on FWR site so go check that out too.
