Canucks Info Needed

On the back page of today`s Province newspaper (Wed. April 4/07) it states that the Canucks need one more game to seal the division and third seed. Could someone please tell me what third seed means.

Thanks,

They are talking about the Canuck's final position in the Western Conference, the top finishers in each division make up the top three positions in the conference, both Anaheim and Either Detroit or Nashville will end up with more points that the Canuck's so they will finish ahead of them

Also, it's possible that a team like Nashville who will have more points than Vancouver (if they get first in their division) will be seeded in the fourth position because Nash. will have fewer points than Detroit who is first in their division.

It would be a little easier to expalin if you saw the standings in the newspaper in front of you.

Also in the later rounds of the playoffs it goes by seeding not by points......make sense
