Had a few spare hours to kayak out on the Vedder today. Alot sunnier and a bit too hot for my liking. Few more people fishing the lower river from shore and on boats but not many just after noon. Water was higher than yesterday which was good.

The low water and all the snags lower down where yesterday was hard to fish with a motorboat. Anyhow. by 30 minutes had the first one on.

Reeled in another scrappy coho jack
(http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a391/troutbreath/P9100286.jpg)
Which was promptly released. Last nights was delicious, but I hate slaughtering fish :)(thought the next one would be bigger maybe) ;)
Tried to stay out of the solar furnace, trolling in whatever shade was around .Then headed back to go home and caught a little trout,at the confluence of the Sumas, which I let get off the hook without touching it.

Saw some about 5 lbs jump way down there.

nice pic's of the water
-
Nice shots T.b. I've debated on taking my watermaster up and running the lower for the heck of it..looks like the water is pretty decent for that...Do you see many other boats or pontoons out there? what are you using for bait? Many thanks,
-
I wasn't going to keep another one anyway, but when I look at the picture it looks like the adipose fin is still sort of there. Using differant spinners and small brass working the best and I mean small ;).To big and you can't troll over the shallower water, which is what you'll get right now. Fish were between sunken logs etc. Lost a big one yesterday because the hook was so small. Beautifull day out there for the end of summer anyway.

well done your slaying those coho jacks well done
-
Well, I didn't get a Coho landed today!! Had a big Ho Break me off after I was to lazy to re-tie after pinching my main line with my pliers!! ::) ??? Anyhow, I was able to land this today!! So I guess that sort of made up for it! :)

The New Sage worked wonderful, and man what a fight the 13 lber gave on the rod!! It was a blast. ;D The trick today was roe or a wool and roe combo!! :)
-
Barfishing right?

-
Nice chinook BS :)
-
You're both right, I was doing both today!! ;D But I got the Spring Float fishing! ;D

It is just what I expected! A real sensitive suoer light Rod compared to the loomis. I Liked the loomis a lot as well, but it was pretty much the same as the 3113, which I already have. So having a bit lighter and more sensitive rod for the light biting Coho is nice. :)
-
Nice fish BS. Was it a whitey? How do those chrome whites turn out as far as table quality?
Last year, I hooked a number of springs on the fly and I kept 2 spring jacks that were chrome bars. They were reds!
-
Took my little guy (Brody) for a drive today up to the chedder hatchery. There's about a Doz coho there, some summer boots, a few jacks and 1 whitey there already.
I can't waite for coho season. My favorite time of the year !!!! ;D ;D
-
very nice fish there BS ;D
-
Definitely no white's for me this year. Made that mistake in the past.Still using the amodiam stuff to clear up the symptoms :-\
-

Floater, since when is a 13lb fish a Jack!! ;D ;D It was white!!
-
How hard did you work for that fish? :) Is everyone sitll fishing the canal?
-
What do you mean how hard did I work for it!! I fished since first light, with one hit and no fish!! Probably made about 500 casts. :o ;D Then at about 11:30 am, I was into 5 fish in about 25 min or so. ::) ;D I guess we ran into some fish!! There wasn't many people fishing the canal at all when I went by!! :)
-
Ill be out there tomorrow morning, with wool, until i stop think of curing some roe and just do it. Any suggestions when fishing low water, early in the season?
-
JUST CURE SOME ROE!! ??? All of our fish yesterday came on roe or roe and wool combos!! :) But as for tips for low clear water, don't go big at all. Small little wool tidbits, just a bit bigger then a small jensen egg, and a bit lighter leader!! Try to make sure your bait would be at about eye level for the fish, so, find bottom then shorten up your float about 6-8 ". ;)
-
Fish can look up but not down. You could be a foot above them in these conditions and if they want it they will take it. As BS said small is best in clear conditions. A piece of wool the size of your fingernail is all you need. Me I like blue wool ;)
-
Very small for sure,I used a tiny lure, and it got bites no prob.
-
Did you use that lucky float I gave you. ;D
-
I went out this morning, didnt hook into anything but noticed alot of trout or smolts around. Finished with some exploring of the river, and found the 2 spring meat holes of this year! ;D Also managed to bust my gas tank and wont be fishing for a while >:(

What on earth did you do - eat a boot spring raw??
I've NEVER heard of anyone having a problems.
-
Yes Kieth Wilson, I parked my Red 4Runner under the bridge. I fished the canal for 2 hours and finished with some exploring up the canal roads.
-
hey big fisher did you happen to see anything around and did you have a chance to check out the upper half,i was out last week and i notice their dredging has changed the river quite a bit, were they dredging today at all thanks :)
-
No Fish caught, touched or seen by anyone. I believe the gravel removal was finished a couple weeks ago, I noticed 3 places were gravel was removed, which will most likely be the 3 meat holes this year :-\
-
Did you use that lucky float I gave you. ;D
Yes , it did very well!! But when that Big Coho broke me off, I had to go running down river for it, and wade in up to my chest!! ??? But alas, I was able to save it!! ;D ;D
PS, I need some more, perhaps different colors, like a grey or a green!! ;D ;D
-
I put a huge glob of roe on my hook and that jack coho took it , the funny thing is the roe was bigger than its head ;D lol What a pig
I had that happen at the chehalis, I was fooling around and used a gob of roe the size of my palm. sure enough A 17inch coho grabes it ;D
-
