Hi,I'm heading down the Kitimat today for steelies.People are having success with jigs and a float.Since the water is a little on the dark side,which colour jig,do you recommend?thanks

Not quite sure what you mean by the water being dark.  If it is murky/low visibility you might want to try a jig with some chartruese in it as well.  You could also tip the jig with a piece of prawn with ghost shrimp scent or roe.  I've never fished the Kitimat but a guy told me they slay them on blue/purple jigs/wool ties
