Title: Looking for fly fishing spot for newbie without boat near Nanaimo
Post by: ironring1 on May 03, 2013, 10:10:38 PM
Hey.  The subject line says it all!  I'm really new to fly fishing, and I am looking for a good spot that is fishable without a boat in the Nanaimo area.  I'm not looking for huge fish or anything like that; just a stream where I can learn and where I won't be "in the way" of more serious/experienced anglers, and where I will have a decent chance of catching something (e.g., rainbows or other resident trout).  I live in Nanaimo, and would prefer a spot within say a 45-minute drive.  I'm not looking for that secret spot, etc.  Not only am I new to fly fishing, but I also am relatively new to the island (having just moved here last summer).  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
