Title: Bait for Sturgeon
Post by: Archer on April 17, 2014, 09:47:32 PM
When fishing at Poplar Bar in Glenn Valley last week with my 4 y/o, there was a couple slaying Sturgeons. I didn't get a chance to ask what their set up and bait was. I have been told just to load a big hook with worms and plunk it with heavy line. Any tricks? Do they like a dead Pea Mouth Chub???

Eulechon, roe, lamprey eel, pike minnow, worms, salmon parts. These are the most common baits.

Most tackle stores will carry them BUT the Lamprey will run you about 15$ per eel.

Ya, lamprey is getting expensive. Someone needs to figure out how to farm them in aquariums at home. :)

That company is from the US. Sea-Run was selling lamprey from them at about $20 each. Kinda pricey. Although they were very juicy and a good size.
