To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Fishing with Rod, I will be doing the first subscribers draw on May 1st, 2006.

The grand prize:

Islander Steelheader Centerpin Reel

Retail price ranges between $350 and $400.

The winner will be choosing the colour of the reel (black, silver or gold), and having the option of his or her name engraved on the reel.

If you subscribe before April 30th, 2006 (subscription and payment must arrive in the mail on April 30th), you will qualify for the draw.

um center pin.... dumb question, is that a fly reel? Hmmmmm I just came into some "easy" money. Some days I love being a computer geek ;)

A centerpin reel is a free spooling reel that is primarily used for float fishing in rivers. The Islander Steelheader centerpin reel retails for $350 to $400.

I know a guy who got a halibut (23 lb I think) on one, not sure what he was doing with a reel like that in the chuck, had it on a lami drift rod too. Quite impressive really.

I'm still wokring on getting it in the mail... ::)

Take your time Spudcote. There's lots of time. Lots of things to do before mailing in your cheque. For instance,go fishing, tie some flies, file your income tax etc. etc.

Bump!

We are just a bit more than halfway through March, so you guys and gals have two more weeks to subscribe at the early bird rates. Anyone who subscribes before May 1st will be in the draw but the subscription fees will be $20/year or $35/two years starting April 1st.

We are at around 40 subscribers now.
