The annual kokanee harvest is going to kick off tomorrow. Is the kawkawa lake ice free?
-
I haven't been there this year (but it wouldn't surprise me if there was still ice on at least part of the lake) judging by the amount of snow and ice down in the valley. But hopefully someones who has been there recently will chip in. :)

No reports from the 1st ~weed of opening? It must be really good or really bad out there, one way to find out I guess...

Ice still on. Small clear spots only. Starting to thin out.
info by a local friend.

Thanks mate!
Might be good to go by the weekend if weather like today holds up.
-
Might be long shot for this weekend, depending on the wind to shift the ice.

Ice?

The half of the lake was free from ice. A lots of chironomids emerged, and fish were visible on top of the lake.
I believe that fly rod with chironomid pattern could be a ticket, but I didn't see any fly guys over there. I tried trolling, didn't get any bites, even coho or trout.

So, since no one was commenting on the ice condition, I call a friend that lives in Hope and got the info I posted yesterday.
But, ouahh, the ice sure melted fast and lots of posts sure pop up about it. Great.
