Title: Recommendations where to fish in langley?
Post by: koifish on April 04, 2016, 10:23:20 PM
Can anyone recommend me something? Where me and my friend can go after school to fly fishing for a bit? Or even on our spinning rods?

I couldn't find anything online and I thought I'd give it a try here.

I don't care what species I catch, just for some fun. Thanks

You can head down to the Glenn Valley bars and see what you can get there. Not nearly as much action down there this time of year but will be good in September-November when the salmon are in the river. If you chuck out some bait there you can always hook into something.

Brookswood Pond was always fun. Bass, pumpkin seed at catfish used to be plentiful.  The water got really low last summer (plus a person taking the large bass to eat) not sure what's left. But was always fun.

There are on-line databases that detail all the fishing spots in Langley, types of fish there and directions of how to get to each one. Not sure if you are allowed to list them here, but a simple google search will bring them up.

I was reading that they electrified all the fish in the trinity ponds, but people say that didn't work very well and still are there.

Does anyone know?

I don't recall the search words I used, but here are a couple of the data bases I have saved that cover all regions of the province:

I hear that Trinity still has some smaller bass in it.

Thats true. Still lots of little fish in there, but the weeds are extremely thick in the summer.

Was at Trinity the other day, no luck. Lots of sunfish around, can see em near the shoreline. The biggest bass I caught last year were around 1lb, got quite a few of em last May. There are also a few big carp in there as well. The majority of the pond is a lot shallower than I thought, found that out the hard way using 3/8-1/2oz lures. Hooked up under some large rocks or fallen wood...not sure what it was,but lost two good lures.

Brookswood Pond was always fun. Bass, pumpkin seed at catfish used to be plentiful.  The water got really low last summer (plus a person taking the large bass to eat) not sure what's left. But was always fun.

I was fishing there back when that guy was keeping fish, was a pretty sad sight. Right now the water in there is super high, haven't had any luck there either, but the fish are still around. They're a lot more spread out now with the high water.

I went on rhe maps and I walked through the trail where the fire hall is. Is that the right place? Or is it the one closer to the school?

The one by the firehall is all flooded lol

The pond is way to big, the path where you walk is all flooded

I hope it goes down by end of the week.

But on the map it shows 2 ponds, I think they both connected since it flooded out. The fish must be scattered everywhere

That's the place. There's a trail that goes all the way around the pond from fire-hall side, to the school side. That flooded trail that you mentioned is just a little shortcut. It's only one pond.

Where is a good spot to fish there? It's so big hard to choose where.

It doesn't look there there is a good spot to fly fish right now, but I don't mind using my spinning rods.  Is by the benches all the way on the other end a good spot? I'm thinking of trying a float and some worms

Its a pond.  It ain't big.

I worked my way around there today.   Fished from about a dozen different spots, took an hour to make it all the way around.  Even waded a bit in shorts and runners.

You really have to try all over, at this time of the year there isn't really one "good spot". During the summer when I fished it, the water level was way lower and there was a lot more room to cast on the west side of the pond. Just work your way around, try every open spot that you can.

Sorry. Yes i was referring to the one behind the fireball. I usually fish along the shore perpendicular to the fire hall. If you can cast out it "drops" off. I have fly fished it. If it is as warm as they say this week the bass will become active. If not small spinners and a piece of deli shrimp. Slay the pumpkins.

I'm going to fish there today.

Do you think worms and a bobber should work a also?

I'm thinking for my fly maybe a strike indicator and a chromnoid or a blood worm fly it should work for pumpkins

Worm and Bonner is how i set up my nieces and nephews. They have a blast. Never tried chironomids, but should work. I have used poppers for bass, big Wooly buggers, anything slow with lots of movement.
