South Golf Island
« on: May 30, 2005, 12:21:28 AM »

Hi Everyone,

My family is going to visit south golf islands (Galiano, Saturna, Mayne, Salt Spring) in mid June.  Any fishing tips? Tidal, and freshwater?

Thank you

You may want to change the name of the thread to "South Gulf Island", not "Golf."

There's quite a lot of bottom-fishing opportunities in those areas, but remember that stocks arent what they used to be, so you may want to try in shallower water so you don't kill them on the way up, the same goes for ling cod. both can be taken from shore, but if you can I've found that a Buzz-bomb bounced along the bottom can be deadly.

There are salmon in the area, but you need a boat, and local knowledge to get into some of those. I havn't fished the area for salmon, so you may either want to rent a boat and ask at a marina, or get a guide to take you out for the day.

Thank you. I will be bringing my mark2 with me so will only be able to cruise close to shore. Is that enough?
