Who to Call
« on: August 18, 2009, 11:54:53 AM »

Last night my son came out and we headed down to the Fraser to Popular Bar
to see if anything was happening and to throw spoons for a while. There was a family
there having a BBQ and fishing, they then started to hit golf balls into the channel.
Now I do not mean two or three balls but 50-60. I phoned the RAPP line and they
did not care. To me hitting that many balls into the channel is polluting. Who should I call
in the future when I see something like this? It was very disturbing, if it had only been
two or three of them I would have said something but there was 10 adults ranging in
age from 20 on up, and if I am not mistaken they were also drinking. So who would you call?

I don't think it's a big deal really.
My main concern would the the people skeet shooting down there on weekends.
12 gauge shotguns and drinking with people around dont really work.

it is a form of littering. call the RCMP, but I doubt they would come. you never know though.

You have to know how to phrase your complaint.

The RCMP don't have a lot of time for littering but if you report XX number of people ( be accurate on the high side but don't lie too much) acting aggressively/open bottles of Beer/Liquor/smell of Marijuana they might sit up and take notice

I was actually down there at the same time and called the RAPP line as well! I have another thread going about how a chinook beached itself when I was down there that night as well. The RAPP line said that there wasn't anything that they could do in that situation  and to call the RCMP if it was really excessive. Although Im sure the amount of golf balls they hit in there doesn't compare to all the lead that gets lost in snags it was still pretty stupid to witness.
