its stocked with trout anually. Great lil' place for father/son outings and cute lil' picnics. but dont let that fool you, its also a fun place to ride your dirtbike and have a couple of beers

The average trout isn't that big but there have been records of people catching some bows in the range of 2-4 lbs

                In case you didnt know Latimer lake is gone. they drained it a few years back and built on it. The other Surrey Lake is on 152St by the golf courses.

Waste of time. Pretty moody lake and the fish are small. You could do a lot better in that area. The one off 152 is Surrey Lake as well. It's used to help drainage in the area, although it has the opposite effect. Pretty much a place for ducks and geese to come and crap, although I think it is stocked.

surrey lake merrit- crap fishing, slowed down last few years, due to winter kill, avarage fish in there a pound to pound and a half, and the time and effort u put in it isnt worth it.


surrey lake of 152- small dry flies, dynamite. for smaller cuts 8-10" and bows around the same size, good for a summer night of fun when your bored.

surrey lake on 152 is closed at least it was a month ago do to water testing I fish green timbers going to be stocked soon stripping little black bugs works best

Too bad about Latimer lake.  I'm glad I got a chance to fish it once or twice about two years ago before they drained it.  I didn't know that.  It was a funny lake because it used to be a gravel pit.  Super shallow around most of it, then super deep at one end.  Somebody should have raised hell about them draining it.  There are too few urban lakes as far as I am concerned.  I loved that lake because I did some work out at Surrey Provincial Court.  Sometimes my afternoon appointment would cancel.  I'd gamble on it and keep the float tube in the truck and the rod tube hidden in the corner of the meeting room.  If I got off early, rather than go back to the office I'd change into the waders, blow up the tube and fish for a few hours until dark down at Latimer. 

We need more urban lakes for fly fishing. 

Richmond recently put in a new pond near Granville and Garden City.  I've got to convince someone to stock something in there.  It's pretty skanky brown when it rains since it's storm sewer fed.  I doubt trout could survive in there, but perhaps some small mouth bass?  They fight pretty good on the fly rod too.  I suspect they'd bite it when winter came.
