Hey Guys and gals,
How's about organizing a bar fishout, that focuses on the bars that are currently seeing high numbers of BBing?
Now that DFO has put some teeth in their demands, I'd suggest splitting up and spreading bar rigs all across these bars systematically, so the fraser stays open...
I can't be involved unfortunately for the next three weeks, but I can help out with something in August.
Any interest?
Cheers,
Nicole

;D ;D ;D ;D
Of course, this would be removable once the sockeye are actually open, and of course, Im only joking with the whole idea

I've done this a couple times in the past, and am always looking to get out and make new friends. Let me know where and when and hopefully the wife hasn't already made plans.
-
I will watch for it and if i can will come out for this.
Thats if the river is still open.
-
I'm in as well. I have no problem with this at all. Mind you like 2:40 said it will be a bitter pill to watch the nets go by!! ::) :D Do you guys think that my 11'6" Trophy XL Medium 10-20lb rated would do the trick as a bar rod or should I just use my Sturgeon technium? I would just buy another, but $2000 into the truck this weekend has put and end to any new fishing gear dreams!! ???

Is the fraser going to have enough clarity to bar fish?
-
Id totally be down, and I get get some friends to come. First time bar fisher this year

I have heard of a couple fish being hooked barfing. Just a question though, are we allowed to use roe right now? Cause, perhaps some big Roesacks hooked onto the end of the hook would help? Anyone tried this when fishing water with less than 6" vis? :)

herring scent on white wool under the spin' glow.

Sounds good, but I am guessing that it would be a rather large hunk of wool!!! ;D Actually, that does sound like a good idea now that I have thought about it a second time!!! ;D ;D

Making a statement like that could cause even more fighting which would really shut down the river. I like Nuggy idea. Why not show people how it is done and how fun barfing really is. Would that not be more productive then a statement.
-
I don't see why they can't go and catch some bullhead. ::) Put some roe on by all means. ;D
-
I believe Nicole had already suggested August as a possible time for this ;)
-
Yes, august is the soonest I can go out, I have house guests coming in from Slovakia, and other guests coming in this weekend as well, and I'm unfortunately booked up. I have a date with some sedges on the 28th ;)
But you guys go ahead, don't let me stop ya! Just make a list with the bars, and a schedule... Then people can fill it out, and say which day they'll be out and at which bar.
I'll update a master list if you guys want...
Cheers,
Nicole

:) :)
I'd love to give it a go, but I need to get a bar rod and reel first.
Anyone out there got spare ?? or suggestions for what to buy..... Not to expensive or I'll be grounded by the boss
;D ;D
-
If you guys throw this together, I'll have a few rods on hand to lend out, along with holders. The hooks and spin&glo's are up to you ;) Also depending on the day I don't mind playing ferry in my little Putt-putt if needed.
-
Lat year the outing was fun meeting some new peoiple and we even caught a few chinook. ;D ;D
-
I'm up to trying barfishing, let us know if it plans work out.

I have one you can use.
-
I've got some spare gear too, it would be a good idea to do this before any sockeye opening I would think.
-
I would love to make it. I got a new bar rod I have been dieing to try out.
-
Im in!
-
has a date been set yet?
-
;D ;D
Well I just waved goodbye to the wife and son who have gone back to the UK for a month's holiday.
I also took a trip to Hatch Matcher in Maple Ridge and spent some hard earned currency on a new Trophy XL 11' bar rod and ABU 7000C3 reel, hopefully it will be a month until that one is discovered :D :D
So I am all set to go, thanks Chris for the offer of a loaner.
This sat is out as it is the Clean up and sun is out as I have guests in but the following weekend is AOK for me.
Just let me know where and when, I can even pick up anyone wishing to come along from MR.
-
I'm in, date dependent.
New to the game, but have geared up. Have a boat, but haven't played with it in the upper fraser yet..

Hi gang,
who's up for giving this a go on Sat 21st and/or Sun22nd...
Just let me know when and where we meet !!!
:)
-
Those dates sound good for me.!
-
Barfished all day yesterday using multiple bright color combos with big Spin and glows and scent. Fishing was fun, catching was well.... we won't talk about that. :-\ ;D
There are a couple bars showing, mind you not much of the bars were showing.
Vis is still a meager 6-8 in max. Hopefully the river will drop drastically and start to clear up some. :)
-
I'm good for saturday.
-
:) :)
So who's up for a Bar fishing trip this weekend ??
I will be out but not shure where to go
-
:)
Well, I went out for a drive today to see what I could find...
A few boats launching from Dewdney but the river was far to high to get to the frazer, the slip was still covered so I drove up to Deroche and walked in from the gate to the boatslip, well I think it was the boat slip, the first track down and a mud flat, again the water was very hagh and FAST, I lost my weights twice on snags and only saw one boat out in the channel.
There was one other truck in the parking area but I never saw anyone there in 2 hours.
Skunked again ......
Tomorrow I think I will try to drive up to hope and see if I can find a bar that is fishable there from the shore..
Good luck all
;D
