Question about reel
« on: March 21, 2016, 10:15:35 PM »

Hi , my dad`s friends gave him as a present new reel shimano tld star 20/40s . From my research and by the look of it , it might handle sturgeon . The actual question is if I can use this reel from shore ?! I have my spinning combo for sturgys (ugly stick 12`) and pen battle , but I remember last year few guys were using reels similar to the one im asking about , and they had tons of backlashes cuz they try to whip it from shore with 20+-oz weights .... does these kind of reels mean to be use like this or they for boat only ?!

This. When you have the reel dialed in properly, you shouldn't have any issues besides the odd occasional bit of over-run.
