powerbait color
« on: June 20, 2006, 10:37:52 AM »

does powerbait color matter for lake trouts? if so, what color works best?
does it depend on factors like water clarity or on whether its a sunny or overcast day?  If so, what would be the best color selection depending on these factors?

2 powerbait eggs, chartruese and pink work good. also dark green paste with a green egg work very well.

When I was a youngin and used power bait quite frequently I had the best luck with the orange power bait eggs. I didn't know how to tie bait loops then but you might wanna try putting some white wool on as well to cover the hook and imitate a skein.

I have tried every color and every combination. I don't think it matters. Fish the color that you think will work the best and confidence will confirm your choice. The bigger factors in my opinion are, length of leader, weight of leader, size of hook and time of day. 2 eggs is a must to keep your hook floating. Other than that its whatever you want.
