Title: Terrestrial hatch...
Post by: Jonny 5 on November 16, 2008, 06:57:21 AM
Howdy fishers!  Had a fun day fishing the bow river here in Calgary.  Fishing was pretty average, but encountered a very unusual "hatch".  Two of these guys rolled out of the grass, and one of them decided to stay and check things out before heading off.  ;D

If I were to try for something like it  I would use a deer hair mouse pattern.  I have a few in a dusty fly box that never gets used, but they are supposedly good for brown trout.  And I know for sure that pike take mice/musk rats and ducklings off the surface.
