My kids were casting these at Steveston for a quite a while during the rising tide last Saturday.  This is supposed to be a good season for catching pikeminnow but we didn't get a single bite.  I wonder if we should have added weights in order to cast farther.  How close to shore do pikeminnow swim?

If you use split shots and a hook with any bait you will catch them way easier. Just cast it out almost any distance, let it sit on the bottom and reel in the slack line. Wait for few minutes for a bite and thats it.  Dig some worms. Mix flour n water together or just canned corn. There should be pretty easy to catch...

They look like the 1\16 weight. Gibbs crocks 1\16 look smaller but are thicker so weigh the same. That one looks like the Thinner 1\8 size for Gibbs crocs. Either case use 4-6 lbs moino on a small spinning rod and the kids are  set for casting a good distance with your trusting teaching of the casting technique

yes they work....if you want to catch trout. brighter colors are best.
