Fisheries and Oceans Canada just released a few notices that summarize current salmon fishing opportunities that are available in saltwater Area 28 and 29, Region 2 and 3.

Thanks Rodney, these Notices are so important ....Saw a Coho caught and bonked at Brownsville Bar to-day Thursday the 18th, nobody would have known it was non-retention with no notice posted at the bar and I'm sure there are many who won't know tomorrow :-[

As I was reading through the notices I picked up one thing that I think they should make clear. In the Mid Fraser notice it says that:
Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal
waters of British Columbia. This includes all species of fish in the Fraser
River.
What it doesn't say is that it is a single barbless. Perhaps assumed by all of us here but... well you know.

Single barbless only required in streams...while fishing in marine waters the use of treble hooks is legal. Whomever made up today's notices did a poor job of cut and pasting barbless restrictions leaving it open to different legal interpretation.

What are some of the techniques that could be used to fish for sockeye in the Harrison ? I'm assuming fly fishing would be the most productive. What type of flies would you use ?

Use krill under a float.

The reason is probably in some places you can use trebles to catch salmon and some places you can't. Whereas barbless hooks must be used everywhere for salmon. So it would probably be tedious to list all of the places that you can and can't use trebles in a notice.
For example, below are some of the places that you can't use trebles. I'm sure there are others but I didn't look at all areas as there are lots of different regulations for different areas.
