Bass Flies
« on: May 07, 2005, 04:27:01 PM »

I may be taking the canoe out to sturgeon slough tommorro. I may bring the fly rods out and troll around.  Anybody know any good patterns to use or other lures for the spinning rod that catch bass.

Just buy some dew worm. ;)

For the largemouth bass, big dark leeches, any surface flies that create sound should work.

I have caught them on Bumble Bee parterns on the Slough on many occasions.

Wooley Buggers, Clouser's Deep Minnow, Bucktails, and Crayfish. My freinds in the West Coast Bass Anglers say our local Bass love Salamanders I'm working on a fly protye.

If you can prove that I am sure fisheries would like to talk to you. If you can't you could face litigation. Until I see this claim proven I have to believe their claim to be responsible anglers. Oh did I mention I use to be a member.

Go ahead with the litigation. I have a source who told me that one of the members admitted to him of stocking a certain piece of water.

By the way you mentioned " used to be a member " why are you no longer a member?

Membership went from $15. last year to $50. this year. On top of that they never did mail me my memebership card or club crest. I like Bass fishing but I don't need to spend $50 to hang out with a bunch of wantabe Good-Ol-Boys.

I know that a couple of them are from Ontario so what do you expect LOL.

I have had to deal with 2 of the head guys in that orgaization and they are a couple or real winners. For 2 guys that are trying to run an orgaization they are not very professional. I like bass fishing as well but I am going to kill 4 if I catch 4 unlike them where they encourage catch & release. Ya I am going to release these salmon/trout killers back into waters where they are not a native species....If it was done properly this would never have been a problem. All that had to be done was a few man made lakes with no feeder creeks or streams. Those man made lakes could be full of bass and we would not have to worry about these feeding machines taking over our river systems.

Here's a suggestion/advice/cautionary note:

There is a difference between having different views on an issue and making public accusations with no concrete proofs to back them up (ie. documentations. Rumours, private sources, hearing from friends are not concrete proofs). I like to remind everyone that this is a public forum, which anyone can read it. Your words may possibly come back to haunt you one day. I'm sure the folks at WCBA also view the posts regularly here.

While I may not completely agree with the interests of WCBA, I am not about to attempt to stop their operation by defacing their organization. A better way to go about it would be to consult with the regional manager who is responsible for this issue and voice your concerns.

Well, you know what i mean. The energy used to trash an organization could be used more efficiently on other things.

Actually I am doing something about it. Myself and another person are working on a bass derby in the lower mainland/fraser valley and have informed fisheries. They are very interested to know how it goes. I figure by the time it starts their should be about 100 people participating. I am hoping that we get some sort of media attention as well so more people know about what a non-native species can do to our waterways.
