« on: October 23, 2004, 09:10:32 PM »

Every time I drive over the Vedder Canal I see people fishing under the highway bridge. Anyone know what they are catching? my guess would be carp but maybe Trout and Salmon too? any help is appreciated

They are catching trout and and some coho. At one time there was a big run of coho that returned to the Sumas and there were lots of resident rainbows. In the fall the workers at the Barrowtown pump house open the gate that allow fish to migrate freely. From what I am told by the farmers nearby there are still some coho returning.  Coho also go up the drainage canal that runs near the Yellow Barn store as you come off the Hwy by #3 Rd
