Old Orchard Boat Launch

For anyone that uses the Old Orchard Boat launch please be advised that it is open now as the sand bar is covered by the annual Fraser River freshet.

It should remain open for a few months now. The reason it is closed for part of the year is because of garbage dumping and complaints from residents because of the noise factor caused by motor bikes and ATV activity that race around on the sand bars in this area.

Some may dispute this but these are the reason it is closed as there is a strong lobby by some Chilliwack Mountain residents that puts pressure on City Council to keep it closed. We do our best by striking this compromise to keep it open as much as possible during the prime fishing season.
