Hey guys, couple buddy from out of town are coming down to fish for a week. Was wondering where a good spot is for flyfishing on the vedder right now. Last few times i went, ended up parking somewhere and walking a bit to good spots but forgot how i got there :p

Fish anywhere with chop.
Along slower/calm water is also very good.
Pretty much anywhere below the crossing is good.

Was out today before work just for a short while, but hunting for springs. Saw some potential spots, below the crossing like every day mentioned. Was thinking about heading back out soon with the 4wt. Haven't fly fished in a few years, figured it would be a good way to start again. May i ask what type/kind of flys would be worth giving a try to get started with?

Was back just for an hour before dark. The area i tried was a bit of a calm deep eddy with chop running on the edge and another part with faster water running into it. Tried an olive wooly bugger, cast it into the ripples and let the current pull it over into the edge of the slack water and stripped it in from there. Must of had a good seven or so hits, had one on but lost it before getting it in. Lots of risers as the sun was going down. Was a ton of fun, i mostly wanted to give it a try as i haven't used the fly rod in forever, but didn't expect any action. I'll have to try again and see if i can get a couple more to take. Catch and release only as i'm just doing it for the fun.

Above the train bridge used to hook up quite a few takers...haven't been there last few years.

when fishing the choppy water, does depth matter?

Hey guys sorry totally forgot about this thread.

Flies I have had best success on are Olive Woolly Buggers for a wet, and either grasshopper or stimulator patterns (in ornage) as dries.
Depth doesn't really matter that much unless its sunny out. I mostly fish close to the top or fish dries exclusivly.

At this time of the year I would suggest slower moving water and Frog water in the lower river.

What constitutes frog water? I see lots of people talking about it...

Totally dead water.
A backwash with very little or no current at all.
