I've had this reel for a couple years now, it's still in great shape, I've made sure to loosen the drag after every outing and kept it clean/lubricated. Never seen the salt. It's similar size to a Calcutta 400/Ambassadeur 6500, comes preloaded with 15 pound monofilament (P-Line) Perfect reel for steelhead season.
