Now that i got your attention i have a quick question for you guys and gals....

For years now everytime i went to go visit family over in maple ridge i would drive over the Mary Hill ByPass and look down towards the shorelines.....For years now i have never seen anyone fishing and its become a inside joke because of the dirty water......Wel....

Today it happened I saw 2 guys with fishing rods fishing.....they were about 150 feet down from the bridge.. Does anyone know what you can catch there and what to use.... Looked like alot of fun but i dont think i could eat anything in that area as the water looks gross....

just wondering if anyone can help...

Depends on which bridge they were fishing near?  Pitt River or the Coquitlam.

If it's the bar I'm thinking about, you can catch trout and salmon when in season.

i think it was the pit river... we were going over the mary hill over to Maple ridge...

Ahhh near colony farm. That's right out my front door. There used to be a fairly popular bar at the mouth of the Coquitlam many a year ago. I remember fishing Springs with roe in the slow moving waters. But I don't see many fishers out there these days. Maybe the bar is not as accessible as before, but I'm sure you can still catch salmon as they go up the Pitt river. I've also seen boats fishing in the area.

squishy fishy, looks like we are neighbours. Yiup, I used to bar fish there during the coho season and did quite well. I stopped going there or bar fishing for that matter after the regs close the Fraser to protect the endangered Thompson coho. The water is ok, just the yellow silty runoff from the Coquitlam gravel pits and not industrial discharge.  I guess currently these guys must be targeting pike minnow or dollies/bull trout.
