Cork for float building.
« on: December 01, 2010, 11:59:24 AM »

I'm looking to get some cork .
I'm gonna build some floats out of them.
Anybody know where I can get some.
Wine cork would do but they've all gone to the synthetic corks nowadays.
Any help on finding some would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Could you use rod handle cork? It might be a little expensive though.

Lots of real corks still on bottles.

FWIW the synthetic wine corks are about the same buoyancy as real cork and either one will hold about 1/4 ounce.

Randy give Whonnock Joe a call and see what kind of cork he uses. I too want to start making my own cork floats. When you have some made I would love to see them to see how they turned out.

Randofish just remember to use water proof epoxy to put the cork together, as that is how your favorite floats are made
