Hmmmm.  Three bad years in a row.  If next year is bad there's basically nothing left except the 5 year fish.  I'm not an expert on salmon cycles - I hope they have historical periods like this.  I would imagine after 4 bad years the DFO would have to apply some big restrictions to the commercials and recreationals up there.  Could be tough times for the resort industry.

The last of the runs should have passed through the Rivers Inlet group of resorts by now if they came at all.  Did anyone out there actually catch any fish in August in that area?  Angry Dragon said it was red hot on Aug 24 but who knows, maybe it was for a day or two.  I saw one post somewhere else where a guy did well for coho at St. Johns in mid August, that's further north....

That was nice of him to take his daughter out fishing and land such a big one.

I worked at a lodge in River's this summer, July 1st-Sept 1st. Saw no more than 25-30 springs come back to the lodge for the entire season. We had 5 springs over 40lbs, largest being 44.5lbs. Owner said that this has been the worst fishing she has ever seen.   :-[

Thanks, Nitroholic.  That's kind of what I was afraid of.  I hope whatever is happening in California to Washington isn't happening here.  Those resort owners are going to have a tough year next year, even if the DFO doesn't tighten up the limits.....
