We went over to George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Ladner this afternoon to take a look. We didn't see as many snow geese as we had hoped (they have been flying over our place noisily in the last few mornings) but still spotted many species. Here are some photos.

Nice pics. I'll have to get some birdseed and take the kids there soon.
-
The bird sanctuary entrance has bags for bird seeds for sale (50c/bag), but they don't have any sunflower seeds that the little birds like (at least not in our bags) so make sure you bring some from the stores. No more fishing this season?? :o ;)

Northern Pintail/Sandhill Cranes/Mallard/American Coot for those that were wondering :)
RBS is a great place to go. I still prefer the free birding locations though. Iona Beach usually delivers.

Thanks for the ID Matt, I was waiting for someone to do that. Even though we got the books here and are almost sure about the names, our knowledge on birds is very minimal compared to avid birdwatchers.
What about these ones?

What do you usually see on Iona Beach?
-
Nice looking wood ducks, I will always remember how my father had a pair mounted because he thought they were too pretty to eat, a few months later he came home from work only to find our crazy dog had ripped the ducks to shreads :o.
-
What's the daily limit on those birds? Be niced smoked.
-
nice woodies, i shot a pair on saturday, gonna have them mounted.
-
I don't hunt ducks, I just like to eat them. ;D Still waiting for my batch from Chris. ;D

Right, I forgot you have someone to pick and clean them for you now. ;D ;D ;D

The picker/cleaner is on strike... ;D

A flock of snow geese landed on the school ground near our place this afternoon. Here are some photos. I took the first two pics and Nina took the last three.
