Title: Chinook in clear water
Post by: VAGAbond on August 17, 2009, 10:00:55 PM
Going to Alaska where there is a smaller, gin clear stream that holds chinook in th efirst pool just above tide water and fresh in.    Any suggestion for a fly?

ive had success in gin clear water for chinook (mind you in a larger system) with a black rabbit articulated leaches with maybe 1 or 2 strands of mylar tied in length wise for a twinkle.  usually only on the first cast will you get a follower.
make it a good one, try not to spook this fish ;D and hold it in front of them a bit but in that water its tuff as soon as they sense your there they get lock jaw. but then again its alaska there is less natural selection for dumb aggressive fish.
