No springs for me yesterday and didn't see any rolling anywhere. Did see a lot of people filling up white plastic Safeway bags with 8 and 10 inchers though couldn't keep roe on my hook for more than two or three casts as the little guys would strip it clean . A couple more weeks should do it.

10 inch spring? :o you're joking right?

Anyone know how long the summer run of springs lasts?
-
till the end of August .. Msybe 2 weeks before Augudt finishes ;D
-
By the time august comes around, the springs are pretty much boots and should be left alone. I have caught coho though at the end of august. ;)
-
LoL. I have caught springs in August, and quite a lot of them. My nicest spring was in August.. Chrome. ;D.......Man. It is crazy fun to catch coho at tamahi rapids in August. ;D I caught 5 in one day, and my dad caught 3!
-
Springkiller, methinks that the coho that you were hooking at tamihi in august were probably sockeye! hope you didn't bonk any!
-
HAHAHAHA...no, they were coho. A bunch of people told me that ;D
-
I the month of August, you can't catch coho in the vedder, maybe if you are really lucky but the chances of getting a coho in August at the vedder are very, very slim. Coho start showing up in good numbers in the fall not in August.
-
Thanx Robert, what is the earliest fishing that will happen on the Cap.?
-
You can catch coho in August, there are very few, but the earliest I have gotten one is last week of august. Sight fish with roe. Oh and these fish are generally very small, maybe a dozen will pass you buy in a day...until sept. rolls around...they come by in the hundreds. Some of my best coho fishing is withing the first 2 weeks of sept, there isn't as many people on the river, that is until word gets around.
