In the day and age of camera phones, etc, so sad to have killed the fish .... what a waste.  There are lots of studies where the scientists have found conclusive evidence that big fish breed big fish.

Funny I had heard just the opposite but who knows these days with every side of every issue spewing bulls*^t in today's world...

I think Rodney might have had something written about the the lack of correlation between big fish breeding big fish? maybe not though i know i read it somewhere. If its conclusive thAts too bad. I wouldn't have killed it myself as it would be too tough to try and eat... I like fillets.

genetics are genetics, big fish, if spawning with another big fish, will produce big fish, but with the lack of big fish, due to people retaining them over the smaller ones for the meat, and the intervention of hatcheries, big fish have become increasingly rarer.

good for a picture and that's it. or the cannery if you had to kill it depending on how it was hooked. when they are that big they don't taste good. obmg has done there best to round up the biggest group of killers out of any lodges up and down the coast

Fact. There are a few nice papers out there with graphs showing trends in size reduction for past 20-30 years.

Well my dad caught a 54LB  at the vedder long time ago maybe 6-7 years I think
 it's mounted on the wall LOL
