Bee, mosquito, wasp, hornet stings NFR.
« on: July 16, 2009, 03:21:20 PM »

Hi,  just a note about reducing the swelling and pain from those bug stings and bites.    Try Aveeno Daily moisturizing lotion from costco.    It works seriously.    I blob on a pea size portion on the bite and leave it for a few minutes and get back to fishing.   Within minutes the bite itch is gone,   the bee sting is neutralized,  and the best part  the sting / bite does not develop into a full blown itch blooding mess an hour later.    I tried this last summer at the skagit and today.    Works better than all those other fancy liquids from the drug store.   great for the kids because they can get quiclkly back to being kids.

forgot to mention;  blob a pea size dollup of the cream on the bite,  then put a good band aid over it.
this prevents it from rubbing off and losing the healing properties.   This is for those really serious bites that are going to get worse or until you get to real medical help.

Rubbing antiperspirent on a bug bite, whether it is mosquito, wasp or otherwise also works wonders.  When I was a kid I would react severly to any bite and my doctor recommended this, it really works.  It neutralizes the sting or itch and slows the swelling.  Works way better than "afterbite".
