We are back in Vancouver!
« on: June 27, 2006, 05:37:14 PM »

We are back... after a long flight. We had to sprint at Frankfurt Airport to catch our flight to Vancouver because our flight from Copenhagen was delayed due to a very late boarding passenger. ::) Anyways, why is it so hot?

Welcome back you two. We turned up the heat to help you get climatized for your next Thompson River trip. Just got back from two bays in Steelhead Town, how does 50c grab sound.

Some photos from today on the plane attached. First two are over Greenland. Last one is the costal mountains. :D

Glad your return flight was less eventful than your first flight.

Nice pics rod thanks for sharing and welcome back!  btw what model/brand of camera are you using? I'm in the market for a digital and I'm having a heck of a time deciding between the Canon S3 and Sony H2/H5.

I will most likely get the Canon.  The Canon has a better movie mode with stereo sound, faster burst mode, less in camera processing and lots of neat little features but the Sony has faster auto focus, is better in low light and the pictures are slightly sharper but do have a sort of digital look to them. I want to be able to take pictures of birds in flight and fish jumping out of the water so the slower auto focus of the Canon (approx. 2 seconds) and a fair bit of noise at ISO 400 and an extreme amount at ISO 800 may be a problem.  FA, are you familiar with the Canon S2/S3 or do you just like Canon products in general?  Sorry for going way off topic Rod.

This is off topic as well but... I just noticed that the posting times seem to be off by 1 hour.  I posted my last message at about 1:30 and the post time says 2:24  ???

The camera that I took those photos with is just a simple point and shoot 4mp camera, but it does have a 6X digital zoom and some manual setting that allows me to choose to suit the lighting etc. It is a Fuji Finepix S3100. :)

Re: Time on the forum. I've noticed the problem since a few weeks ago. Last week it actually went an hour earlier so I changed the setting, but I guess the program automatically changed the setting again so it became an hour later. Postings go up immediately when you click on "post", they are not delayed, the posting time was just wrong. I've fixed it now, let's see how long it stays correct.
