Title: Pegleg, Aug. 10
Post by: Nostro on August 11, 2004, 07:50:36 AM
Again, I went to Pegleg last night from 7:30-9pm. Lots of people, of course. It was an excellent evening for spring fishing. I didn't get one, but it seemed like every second fisher did! Sockey? Not so good. I saw 2-3 socks pulled in by the boaters across the river. None on my side of the river. But my side got all the springs. Very encouraging. May be the socks are not far behind.
Again, very good company of fishers all around me. Very courteous, and yielding to "fish on!" calls.

I did some commercial fishing and I can tell you that a medium or big size spring dont stand a good chance of getting caught up in a sockeye net....the mesh is too small to get behind the gills plate (and thats whats needed to hold them).

With no sockeye getting thru too, then proportionally the spring #'s will seem to sky rocket.
