The Steelhead Society of BC's annual general meeting will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 8555-198 A Street (BCEGU office), Langley. We will have Dave Harper from BCIT presenting on the Shovelnose off-channel complex repair project for the Squamish river. The second presentation is from students in the BCIT/SFU Ecological Restoration graduate program who are presenting about the Seymour wetland & crab island projects. This is open to paid up SSBC members only. Memberships and swag available at the door.

The Chehalis is not a topic on the agenda for the SSBC AGM. However, it was brought up at our directors meeting where there was some discussion on the proposal from Statlu Resources for an application to dump contaminated soils at their operation. The SSBC is opposed to this project because of the potential impacts to the Chehalis ecosystem. There was a meeting held by the Fraser Valley Regional District with the applicant on Dec 14, 2015.
