I have noticed a lot of interest in fly fishing for Pinks. Fun game but you need to take care of your gear.
If you are staying non-tidal no problem, but if you are stepping into the brine you need to clean your gear every trip. Once more for effect, YOU NEED TO CLEAN YOUR GEAR EVERY TRIP! That salt is tuff on fly gear loose your steel or aluminun reels the salt will eat them up in no time. Your options or brass, stainless, ionized, or graphite reels. Graphite is by far the most economical.
Next when you come off the water hose down your outfit with fresh water, I usually find a creek and submerge mine for about 10 min. When you get home strip the line and backing of your reel and float in a tubb with of clean water with some dishwashing detergent added. Soak it for 10 to 20 min. After that dry and redress. Rinse and dry your rod and reel also, paying close attention to the eyes and reel seat.
